My taxes were rejected saying my dependents SSN didn’t match. I checked and everything was fine, so I refilled like turbo tax said to and the said the irs would accept it and just process it manually which will take longer. They rejected it again. I called the social security Administration and everything is correct. They said maybe because my child was born late on December that he is not in the ORS database yet. How will I know when to try and refile?

Persons on a tax return are verified against what is on file with Social Security. Sometime people have two middle names or two last names. You can try a different combination if this is the case. Sometimes Social Security may only use one of the last names or may think part of the middle name is part of a last name. Also verify you are using the right social security number and the correct date of birth.

I have not heard of the IRS database being out of date, even for children born late in the year.

I would suspect is is a name mismatch or year of birth, so double check those things.

I called SSA. Everything is correct. He has one middle and one last name. No suffix. I checked online a hundred times everything was spelled and input correctly.

Hello, I am having the same issue. I have double checked all the information against his social security card and still getting rejected. Any ideas?

You may have to mail the return if it continues being rejected and you have double checked everything. But don't resort to filing by mail until you have tried everything. One other thing to check is the name fields. Clear out the name fields by putting your cursor in those field and hit the delete button until everything is cleared. Sometimes a character gets appended at the end of the field and causes a discrepancy. @erikswansonw
