For the federal tax refund, you do not report it as income on your 2019 taxes. It is not a taxable event. However, for the state tax refund, you only report it if you claimed a deduction for state and local taxes on your 2018 tax return.

To enter state tax refunds in TurboTax online, here are the steps:

Sign back into your account, select Pick up where you left off
To your right upper corner, in the search box, type in "state tax refunds" and Enter
Select Jump to state tax refunds
