Form 1040X for 2017 Not Completing

I need to amend my 2017 return. I clicked on the amend return button and made the changes in my return, but TurboTax isn't filling out form 1040X. It's completely blank. Instead of showing the net extra tax I owe, the program is showing a change in the original amount I paid for 2017, as if I didn't file the original return. Has anyone out there experienced this problem?

Did you maybe make the changes before you started the amended return? Try deleting the amended return and then put your return back to the way it was originally filed. Or if you did the amended return in a copy of your return start over with the original file (and make another copy first).
