Amended tax return

If my tax return is still being processed for a wrong amount in my tax withheld column and I was told to do a tax amend. Do I still have to send a check for the amount owe although I haven't received a check and it's still saying my taxes is being processed?

Normally you do not amend a return when the original return is still in processing so I don't know who told you to amend but the IRS will usually recompute the erroneous entry for you automatically.
