Were the 2016 returns prepared with Online TurboTax? If so, log in and at the Tax Home go to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents." Click to expand. Choose tax year 2016. Then choose "Download/print the PDF."

If you find no evidence of an online 2016 return in that account, then we can tell you how to look for multiple accounts.

If you do find evidence of the 2016 returns, but when you click to download/print, it asks you to pay, report back. If access is locked, then the method to pay to unlock it depends on what all you have done for your 2018 return.

If that's what you encounter, please answer these:
Have you already filed a 2018 online return, or is it still in preparation? Or did you file one elsewhere?

Is your 2018 return in Free Edition or a paid edition?

Is the 2016 return in the same account as your 2018 return?

How do I print my 2016 State taxes? turbo says I printed it and filed but State doesn't have them and I didn't save all of the pages. Thanks!

yes, it asks me to pay but cannot find where/how to pay. it does say that I did file and print my 2016 taxes and don't mind paying to print them but can't figure out how.

When you look in "Your Tax Returns & Documents", what exactly does it show for the "status" of the 2016 return? Does your 2016 state return show a status of "printed"? If so, that means it wasn't efiled. That means you would have needed to mail it to the state. If you chose to file by mail, TurboTax does not mail it for you. So if you didn't file it by mail, then it hasn't been filed.

I can tell you how to pay to unlock the 2016 PDF. The method to unlock it depends on what all you have done in regards to your 2018 return. Normally the way to unlock it is to upgrade a 2018 Free Edition return to PLUS for 19.99, but it will depend on the situation with your 2018 return.

Please answer all of the following:

Have you already filed a 2018 return in Online TurboTax, or is one still in preparation? Or did you file elsewhere?
Was the 2018 return prepared in Free Edition, and is it still in Free Edition?
Is the 2018 return in the SAME account as the 2016 online return?
