Okay thank you.Question: I am receieving a refund already. I have student loan interest to claim. Will my refund increase when claiming student loan interest? Can I carry over that student loan interest to 2017 if I choose to? Or do I have to file it in the year I paid the interest?

It must be filed in the year you receive it. Student loan interest is an adjustment to income--it reduces the amount of income you are taxed on.
