If you are a returning customer, TurboTax may prompt you to deposit your tax refund into the same account you used last year, if you wish to change it please try this:

Ensure the box underneath the account info stating I want my refund deposited into this account is unchecked.
Scroll down and click Continue.
A page will display that says, Let's get your bank account info.
Enter your new or updated account info you want your 2016 refund deposited in to.

If you have already filed:

Once your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your bank account for direct deposit. If the info you provided is for a closed or invalid account, the government will just mail you a refund check.

If the info you entered happens to be someone else's account, don't worry – banks won't deposit tax refunds into accounts where the names don't match up. You can contact your bank and alert them that you have made an error in the account number.

You can review the direct deposit account information you entered by looking on your printed return. This will be found on your 1040 under the Refund section (look for line 76).

Now, if your recently-filed return is in pending status, wait until it's either accepted or rejected. If rejected, simply open your return in TurboTax and go through the File section again to update your bank account before re-submitting your return (don't forget to also take care of whatever problem caused the rejection).

If accepted, you'll get your refund check in the mail.

You pay first, THEN you go through another screen, THEN you get the option to put in your bank deposit info for your refund to be direct deposited.
By the way Turbo Tax doesn't tell you WHEN you choose to pay with your refund that you will be CHARGED $35 for this privilege! Jheez! Pretty shady! I'm sure a lot of people don't notice that extra $35 fee.
I think TurboTax should tell you right on that page when you choose to pay with your refund that there will be a $35 fee!

If you have not yet filed, you may edit direct deposit information by doing the following:

With your return open, click the File tab
You will land on the last step page
Complete Step 1 if you haven't already
Then, the second line should say "Your refund info"
To make an edit, click Revisit
On the next screen, make sure In my bank is selected. Then, continue
You may edit your account information on the next screen

If the program is still recognizing your bank information from last year, please reference this TurboTax FAQ for a workaround.

If you have already filed, it is too late to update your bank account information in the program. Assuming the bank rejects your refund because it is an incorrect account, the IRS will issue a check and mail it to the address shown on your tax return. Or, if the return hasn't already posted to the IRS's system, you can ask them to stop the direct deposit. If you've already filed and your return has been accepted (or mailed), it's too late to change your bank account for direct deposit. If you have not filed yet you can click here to find the directions to update your direct deposit.

As long as you haven't filed yet (or you e-filed, but got rejected), you can change your refund method. For instructions please click here. If you have already e-filed, you will not be able to change the refund method.

If you have a prepaid debit card with a Visa or Mastercard logo, you can have your tax refund deposited to that card. However, in order to do this you will need to contact the company (ex. Netspend, Greendot...etc) and find out what the correct Routing number and account number (not your card number) are. You will enter this information into TurboTax just like you would enter the Routing number and account number of a bank account for direct deposit.

If you have already e-filed or mailed in your return, you are not able to make any changes to your direct deposit information. If your financial institution rejects the deposit, the government will mail your refund check.

If your tax return has already been accepted it is too late to change your bank information. See this Turbo Tax FAQ regarding What to do when I have different direct deposit information after I file.

Once you have filed your tax return, you cannot change any of the direct deposit information.

If your account number is incorrect or your account has since closed, the IRS will issue you a check in the mail.
