The IRS will begin accepting e-file returns on January 29...

The IRS will begin accepting e-file returns on January 29, 2018. A few returns will be processed up to a week before this date for testing purposes. If you have received confirmation of acceptance, then you do not need to resubmit unless the return is rejected.

If you file your return in
TurboTax before January 29, we'll hold your return and submit it at that time.

If your return is among those that the IRS processes early as part of its testing, your tax refund (if any) won't be processed until after January 29. The IRS states that it can take up to 21 days for refunds to be issued via direct deposit once the return has been accepted and processed. The state's payment of direct deposit refunds vary. The best place to find that information is on your state's department of revenue website.
