If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2017 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over. Close the TurboTax window.

@DoninGA Hello, so I have already registered the Free edition but haven't submitted my return and considering filing elsewhere; can I do that although my return is in progress on TurboTax?

Yes, you can use another tax preparation service provider since you have not filed the tax return using TurboTax.

It depends.

As long as you have not paid yet, you can clear and start your return over.

Clear and start over your return

If you e-filed your return, you cannot delete the return as it has already been filed. You would need to amend your return to make any changes.
