To remove a dependent, click on the Personal Info tab and you'll land on the Personal Info Summary page. You'll see the different sections of personal info, one of which will be for your dependent. Scroll down to his name and you'll see a blue "delete" button. Click on that to make the deletion.

I need to remove my dependent so she can file her own taxes (she received a 1099 misc and due to the amount, must file on her own). When I look in my personal info, only one of my kids is listed- not the one I want to remove. However, when I download my completed/filed taxes, the daughter I want to remove is listed as a dependent. What does this mean? Note: I did not receive any child tax credits for her.

How old is she? She can still be your dependent and file her own return. She just needs to check the box that says she can be claimed on someone else's return.

But to remove her look under My Info.
