I sent my taxes in mail 3 weeks ago and on the online status, it still says ready to mail. How long should it take for irs to receive tax papers through mail?

Hello! It can take up to two weeks from the time you mailed your return for the IRS to process it. Once it has been accepted it can take around 21 days to receive your refund. You should receive notification to your email once it has been accepted by the IRS. You can also track your refund on the IRS website once it has been accepted at www.irs.gov/refund

Four weeks is how long the IRS specifies on it's website....

Four weeks is how long the IRS specifies on it's website. You'll see that notice there when you go to the "Where's My Refund" tool and scroll down about half page. That doesn't necessarily mean it will take that long. It's unpredictable exactly what day it will show up.
