You can try to ID verify via their website @ idverify.irs.gov. I tried this but the online system didn't recognize my info so I had to call the IRS. The number I was given to verify is 800.830.5084. Good luck.

Turbo tax posts an estimated date of return. Once the tax return is filed, though, they do not track it's progress. This basically means once your tax return is filed it's between you and the IRS (scary words, I know). Here's my personal experience for what it's worth:

Typically, the representatives will tell you there's nothing they can do until the 21 days have passed. However, if you tell them you have received reference code 9001 they will look at your file. On the IRS end the reference code 9001 is simply listed as "system error" which is extremely unhelpful. This means they have to look at the notes on your file to see what the actual problem is. If I were you, I would call them again and ask if they can tell you why you have this error code. When I called in with this exact error code it took the rep fifteen minutes to find the problem. I was happy to wait and kept telling her to take her time. Keep us posted with what they tell you. Good Luck!

This years tax season i received 9001 code and tax topic 152... this has to do with identity... i married this last summer and apparently Social Security didnt inform IRS of my name change and since that happened i had to answer questions of who i really am lol... boils down to now have to wait yet another 9 weeks on top of the 3 ive already waited for my refund... the representative said everyone with these showing up on the website will have to call and verify whom they truly are. Hope this helps...

I receive the topic and code 9001. I had to wait about 14 days for a letter explaining a I’d Verify. I filed on 2/17 and I’d on 3/12. They said about 6-9 weeks but I got a change on my WMR with DDD 3/20. You do have to wait for a letter and 21 days to really get the answer you need. With all the fraud going on they can’t really I’d check without that control number. Hope this help someone.

Ok. I think my situation applies to you so here it is. I filed on 1/12/16 and was accepted on 1/14/16. I had one bar until 2/1/16 then it disappeared and I got the whole "we can not provide you with any information about your tax refund...if you need further information call and provide reference code 9001..blah blah blah". I waited to call hoping the backlog was the reason and it would update soon but no such luck. I called the irs number provided on WMR Wednesday 2/10/16 and was given the id verify number. I verified my id the same day. Up until this morning I still had the same message on WMR but this morning (2/13/16) I woke up to two bars and a ddd of 2/18/16. I know they say it can take up to 9 more weeks but it seems to be moving much faster than that. I hope this gives you some hope that you will get your money sooner than later.

I actually woke up the same thing. Let's see what happens.

You can request a tax advocate if you can prove that waiting for your money is causing a financial hardship. You can find the form fairly easily with a web search (IRS Form 911- Request for taxpayer advocate service assistance). Good luck. @booker_niki

This is crazy!!!! Filed on 03/06/2017 called the number on 04/07/2017 and they are saying that the info was not entered into their system correctly (system error) and to allow an additional 12 weeks from today.
for them to fix it. Unaccpetable and to make matters worse the representative hung up on me becuase I asked for her supervisor. Did not even use profanity. Im pissed.

My return was accepted 1/21 and I went through the whole code 9001 thing. Was able to verify identity via phone on 2/12 and was given the same 9 week wait period. Checked WMR on 2/20 and it was updated with a DDD of 2/24. Roughly 2 week wait. Let's see if I actually get it on the date list, though.
