Should an amended W2 (for salary allocation), have the same taxes withheld (box 17 State) as the original W2?

I lived in VA and IL. Company did not allocate salary correctly. When I received the amended W2, the tax withholding (box 17) on the amended w2 is different than the original. Should that be the same as the original since that's what the company took out?

You need to ask your employer. The employer may have made adjustments to the amount sent to each state, or the company could have simply reported the wrong amounts to you of what they actually held out for each state.
