I am trying to process my payment to the IRS and it won't allow me to put in today's date April 15th. Any reason why?

I don't want to be charged interest or penalties. I am submitted my taxes before the midnight deadline, why is turbo tax not letting me put today's date in?

TurboTaxRachelW originally responded and then deleted, "The banking system is closed so you will need to use 4/16/19 as your payment date. By e-filing today (by midnight), your return will be filed on time." I filed and used the 4/16/19 date as the payment date based on that before MichaelL1's response. Should I try to pay on the IRS site? I don't see a way to cancel/change the 4/16 payment date though.
