Latest word from the moderators is that pay with refund will be back in a "few days" but they cannot provide an exact date. So....if you really want to pay with refund (and pay an extra $40) you can wait around for a few days.

@xmasbaby0 - interesting; I just got off the phone with Turbo Tax 1-800 number and rep told me this is an annual period from now until January when the product is not available. In early October, GreenDot (SBTPG's parent) will clear out their database to get ready for the new tax year. From now until October will permit the pipeline of tax returns that have the product to process through the IRS (remember, paper filed returns are not part of this population) and SBTPG.

The rep also said this process is what caused the 'fiasco' with the 2nd stimulus payments...... Greendot cleared their database, as they normally do in October, but then in January 2021, when the IRS went to direct deposit all the 2nd stimulus payments, the records they had for those that used the SBTPG servce had been wiped out by GreenDot and the IRS didn't know that, so the payments couldn't be forwarded on to the taxpapers - so they all bounced back to the IRS - you may remember what a mess that was. The IRS and Greendot were smart enough to trade the appropriate files for the 3rd stimulus so the problem didn't occur again.

This is not a system's glitch - it is a planned product outage.
