I'm 21... no kids... $17390 wages... non-student

I've triple checked my boxes, and can't find the error.

After the rejection, I get this explanation:
"Hmm... looks like this explanation isn't available right now. We're working on it for you, so please check again later."

Irs.gov says with no qualifying child you can take the EIC if "you earned less than $21,430 ($27,380 if married filing jointly)", and Turbotax's own support section agrees with the Irs.gov definition.

I also tried two other online tax preps that allow me to claim it, but I would prefer to keep my business right here.
Thanks for any guidance

Try clearing the browser history/cookies and/or switch browsers then revisit the MY INFO section and the EIC area again... maybe the issue will fix itself.

Check your birth date in the My Info section.

Carefully check all your answers in the EIC section. If you don't find an error, check your entire tax return.

You didn't say exactly what you looked at on the IRS and TurboTax web sites. There are 12 conditions you have to meet in order to get the EIC without a qualifying child. You haven't stated your qualifications for all 12 conditions. Did the rules that you looked at cover all 12 conditions? Check your entries in TurboTax that are related to every one of the conditions. They are not all covered in the EIC section.

Did you have any other income besides the $17,390 in wages?

Did you answer Yes when TurboTax asked if you wanted to try using your 2019 income to calculate the EIC?

Did you claim the EIC in an earlier year and have it disallowed? This is a 13th condition, but is generally not included in the basic list of rules.
