If you lived in Florida for the entire year, you don't own Virginia any state taxes for your retirement income in that same year.

If you had Virginia state withholding on your retirement income for a year when you didn't live in Virginia, you can file a Virginia nonresident tax return to get a refund of that tax withheld.

All your retirement income is taxed at a federal level, so you will need to enter all 1099-R forms you received for a given year.

Hi,

How do I fix this issue I moved to Florida from VA in Oct 17. My 2019 1099 R has florida payee number. They say I didn't notify them until Feb 2018,. Therefore I have 2 1099R's one for for FL (10 months) and 1 for VA (2 months) can this be changed or will I have to fill out a VA state tax form as well?

Thanks,

Brooke Wilson
