Deluxe CD/download software is also sold by a variety of retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc.

They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose. And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state. There is an extra fee to e-file the state. You can avoid the $24.99 state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.

I signed into your site and started my taxes the price was $30. When I completed it I was charged $60. I paid it but still wonder why it increased.

I also experienced this in my filing and was about to ask the same question, but since you already did, I'll patiently wait, along with you, for some explanation as to what is happening here. Thanks in advance for any explanation out there.

You added to someone else's thread---we cannot see what software you are using or know what you are saying that you also experienced----are you confused by your fees? Or by something else?

Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund? (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $39.99)

First I had completed my joint filing but didn't do the transaction because on completing I realized that I was somehow giving the self employed product, which I'm confused and felt sure I've never chosen that one, and would only realize it when I saw the $120.00 fee. I cleared the entire account and painfully choose to start over with the one for $60.00(deluxe), now on completing this one and getting ready to pay, I found the final total refund figures were about $240.00 less than my first filing, with an added $30.00 to the $60.00 deluxe fee. I'm still holding out to see if anyone can advise on why the refund was less when I choose to downgrade and why the extra $30.00.

@Boquel We cannot see your screen or your tax return, nor can we explain what was different when you changed software versions. You may have entered something differently or changed something when you went through the software the second time.
