If you are not successful e-filing you can always choose to print your return and file by mail, as you have done in the past.

Be sure you both sign your returns, and mail to the correct address. The address should be listed in the printed Turbotax header page. I recommend using USPS registered mail, with a return receipt to ensure your return was received by the IRS.

**Say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in a post

My wife and I mailed in our taxes every year until this year(2021). Our status did not change, execpt income of course. Turbo Tax and the IRS keep asking for e-file data from 2020 filing. LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR, WE HAVE NEVER E-FILED BEFORE THIS YEAR. SO THERE IS NO E-FILE DATA IN YOUR DATA BASE OR THE IRS'S DATA BASE. EVEN THAT, THE IRS'S REVIEW SOFTWARE DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OUR FILING STATUS AS MARRIED FILING JOINTLY. WHAT S WRONG HERE WITH THIS SOFTWARE, YOURS AS WELL AS THE IRS'S. WE HAVE TIRED TO CONTACT THE HELP AT THE IRS AND EITHER NO ANSWER, OR AN AUTOMATED REPLY.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

"My wife and I mailed in our taxes every year until this year(2021). "

If you have mailed your tax returns you have, in fact, "filed" tax returns. Filing does not just mean e-filing. It means you have either e-filed OR mailed a tax return to the IRS. And if you sent in a 2020 return last year there is an AGI on line 11 of that tax return. You may not be aware of it ---but you have an IRS account and you would be able to get a transcript of your past returns from the IRS.

https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

But.....your 2020 AGI might not be in the system yet since it took the IRS so long to process mailed 2020 returns and enter that information. Try using zero as your AGI if you are trying to e-file 2021.
