I have been trying for 3 days to get through to the number on letter 4883C. I start at 7:00am and the recording states they cannot take me call, to call back. Is there an alternate number besides the one on the letter?

There are alternate numbers to contact the IRS, but the phone number in the letter is a dedicated line for verifying identity, so it is the best one to call.

I am having same issue, but..., I got up at 6:45 to start calling at 7am, finally, after 20 redials and at 7:35 I got through to be on hold for 30-60 minutes.

You would think with all the money we send out we could afford to properly staff the IRS so they could answer these calls more promptly.
