What do you mean by "IRS PIN". Do you mean a 6-digit IP PIN (Identity Protection PIN)? I can tell you where the IP PIN is entered in the Online TurboTax interview for a return. I don't know if it translates to an extension or not, or whether it has to be entered somewhere else for an extension.

I don't know if this will solve your extension problem or not, since I have no way to look at an extension interview.  But here's how one would enter an IP PIN in Online TurboTax when preparing a return.  Again, I have no way of knowing if it will translate to an extension you are preparing.

Here's the regular navigation method:

    Log in and open your return ("Take me to my return.")
    In the left menu column, click Federal.
    Then at the top "Other Tax Situations"
    On next screen croll down to "Other Return Info."
    Choose "Identity Protection PIN" and Start (or Revisit.)

Here's an alternate route:

    Log in and open your return ("Take me to my return.")
    Once the return is open click in the top right corner on SEARCH.
    Enter IP PIN without quotes then click the magnifying glass--do not use the dropdown menu, or it might not display the "Jump.".
    Choose Jump to IP PIN.

I'm not sure if that's the type of PIN you were asking about, since you only said "IRS PIN" and didn't respond to my first comment asking for clarification. But in any case an IP PIN is not needed for this purpose.

Please refer to the following IRS article where it says you do not need the IP PIN to request an extension.
