W2 box 18-20 Kentucky Duplicate Error

I have been running the final Error check on my taxes and it keeps claiming I have an error (duplicate entry) where I enter Boxes 18-20 of my W2. However, I'm entering exactly what the W2 says but the software still wont let me continue. How do resolve this?

Sometimes the only thing you can do is to delete the W-2 and re-enter the W-2 and see if that eliminates the error.

Is there more than one W2 on your return? When you went into the State return did you enter the information again? Have you tried to delete the Kentucky Return and then add the Kentucky return back and go through the questions to see if that clears the problem.

It's hard to say whether it is in the W-2 or the State return that is presenting the error.

I only have one W2 but it has two line items on the Boxes 18-20. I deleted the whole W2 on the federal entry section. When I reentered it all, I still got the same error. I was getting the error before I even got to the State part of the filing. I mentioned Kentucky in the subject just in case there is something odd with Kentucky W2's, it's not specifically the state tax return portion that I'm seeing the error on.

This W2 error is usually eliminated by deleting and re-entering the W2 information. In the Federal interview edit the W2 in question. Be sure to delete/backspace in the boxes 16-20 to eliminate any stray spaces/characters. Re-enter the W2 information for those boxes.

If the boxes on your W2 are actually duplicated, you only need to enter the line once.

Additionally, you might delete the entire W2 and re-enter all the information as an added step.

but for box 19 i got 2 differents income taxes. but when i add a second line to add the second tax income it says duplicate. should i add up both tax incomes into one income?

I have deleted and started over 3 times. Even uploaded a pic for it to fill it in. I have two numbers in box 19 with the same locality. It tells me it’s duplicate but the numbers are different.

hey i just talked to someone from TurboTax and the solution is to add up the 2 incomes together into one income
