Reject Code IND-996 is the Dependent/Qualifying Person Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN) provided on the return is not valid.

You can go here to contact the IRS and get your IP PIN : https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Retrieve-Your-IP-PIN

If you can't get your return to go through, you will have to mail in a paper return for this year.

I have the IP PIN for my dependent but there is no place to enter the information, when I go to the IP PIN entry location there are spaces for my spouse and me but none for his IP PIN.
