Yes, I had to send via USPS. My preference was to pay via online however, I can't do that until I get some sort of payment due notice from the state which has a tracking nbr tied to it. And who knows when that would be coming.

Nooooo....you pay the balance due now.

IF you wait for NC to bill you...that means they were looking for the payment and you didn't make it...so they bill you and add in penalties and interest.

IF you were attempting to pay online, and the NC payment procedures asked you to provide the billing or tracking number, then you were using the WRONG NC payment page (there are separate payment pages for different purposes).

GO to the following page and click on the blue box in the upper rt labelled "Pay Original Tax Due" and pay the amount on line 27 of your 2021 Form D-400. (no tracking number needed)
