No you do not need to file a form 8833 for that income. According to this IRS FAQ item 5 under the "Exceptions" paragraph states there is an exception to filing the form 8833 if "The payments or items of income that are otherwise required to be disclosed total no more than $10,000." Also, the form 8833 is filed to report an exclusion of income or lower tax based on a treaty. In your case you are including income to be taxed as US income.

I am a US and Canadian citizen living in the US. I received OAS payments from Canada (T4), as well as a $500 Covid senior payment sent to all over 75 OAS recipients (NR4), none of which had anything witheld. I received nothing else from Canada. It seemed to me all I had to do was convert to USD and add to my US Social Security. The total would be less than $2000. However, previously I used a tax professional who just retired and he always included a form 8833 which simply said I was a resident of the US and OAS would be reported as social security income. Do I really need to do that? It's obviously more work since Turbotax doesn't support that form. Thank you.
