Can I import .tax2021 without State (TurboTax Premier Windows)

Hello,

I am purchased online premier and filed my tax return, after e-file, I found there lack a tax on Schedule 2 line 2 (repayment credit from 1095A),

I remember I was enter 1095A in before, since TurboTax online can't see any of entered data after submitted tax file.

I have to purchase another TurboTax Desktop version again and try to load saved .tax2021 file to take a look what's wrong over there.

Now, I meet a problem that I can't import .tax2021, because I have two states in .tax2021, but Desktop version only support 1 state.

My question is how can I import these entered data without spend more money to purchase a new extra state? I just try to double check my entered data in .tax2021 file.

If you need to review the entries on your tax return, you can do so by printing a copy of your return filed in TurboTax Online.

How do I get a copy of a return I filed this year in TurboTax Online?

Both is not answer my questions.

First, 'printing' only display anything generated by software, but I want to check my input data/forms, I want to get the TurboTax similar pages likely before submit to IRS.

Second, I am not discuss software fees, I just discuss the new Desktop software feature, that is necessary by me and others, if we want to import prior or current year tax data into software, but the match State module does not exist, I think the software may drop these State data other than block to import Federal and exist State.

If possible, may I suggest to addition these new feature to new version of TT?

Some people may only review or try different method (such as apply Form 2555 or not) on Federal tax return and/or one of state.

I can tell you how to get back into your return interview so you can see the screens and entries that you went through previously, but you have to be really careful (see note below).

NOTE: When you open your already-filed return back up, do NOT make any changes in it. If it turns out you need to prepare an amended return, the amending process must start with your return exactly as originally filed.

To open the return interview back up, log in and at the Tax Home or in the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents" for 2021, look for a link "Add a State."
Click on "Add a State." (That doesn't really add another one. That's just to open your return interview back up.)
Again, do not make any changes in an already-filed return.

Thanks your remind, I understand we can't modify tax return after submit, this is one of reason that I purchase 2nd software, any change does not affect submitted tax return over there.

I guess he import restriction still need to resolve, it may also block import .tax2021 in next year, since I will different amount of State form in tax return 2022.

Since you paid for Online TurboTax including 2 state returns, and have also bought desktop software (CD/download), you've already paid more than you should have. Phone TurboTax Customer Support and explain your situation. Tell them you've already purchased redundant products and ask for the second state software. After all those purchases they "should" provide you a complimentary download of the second state program so you can open your *.tax2021 data file.

ADDENDUM:

You mentioned a concern about preparing next year's 2022 return. Next year, if you transfer your *.tax2021 data file into a 2022 return, if there's a state return in your *.tax2021 data file that you don't need in 2022, it shouldn't make any difference. The 2022 program can still transfer-in a 2021data file that contains states that won't be used in 2022 because that transferring of prior-year data is a different process. I've personally had state returns at times in my tax data file when I didn't need them the next year, and transferring occurred normally without the unneeded state programs installed. (Transferring is not the same as "opening"; see next paragraph.)

What you are trying to do now with your desktop software is not "importing" or "transferring in". What you are trying to do now is to OPEN the *.tax2021 data file which is a different process than the transfer of a prior year's data. 2021 TurboTax can't open your current 2021 file because it doesn't know how to handle the second state's data without the second state program. As I mentioned in a comment above, hopefully TurboTax Support will furnish you a download of the second state software.
