8915-E was for the tax year 2020, for the tax year 2021 you will be using form 8915-F, which will be available on March 24, 2022.

You can view the forms availability here to monitor the availability date.

When will Form 8915-E be available? TurboTax indicates "IRS instructions related to disaster distributions weren't ready in time for this release." I can't file my taxes because of this. Tried to update, said I have the latest update. Not real happy right now. Its March 4th and I should be able to file my taxes!!

why are you calling it 8915-f? It clearly states we are waiting on form 8915E-T so whats the real answer here? money was taken out of our 401k's in 2020, not in 2021, but the taxes are paid over three years

The Form 8915-F is now a forever form. In prior years the alphabetical letter changed to indicate a new year. With the Form 8915-F a box will be checked indicating which year the disaster occurred that you are claiming a tax benefit for including 2020 and going forward.

For a 2020 disaster including Coronavirus, the form 8915-F will be used if any of the following apply to you for 2021. Bullet three applies in your situation.

• A qualified disaster distribution was made to you from an eligible retirement plan.

• You received a qualified distribution.

• A qualified disaster distribution was made to you in a prior year that you are including in income in equal amounts over 3 years and the 3-year period has not yet lapsed.

• You made a repayment of a qualified disaster distribution.
