I am able to unclick the box and continue, then it takes me right back to review it again in a never ending loop. Nothing else on the worksheet can be changed. I dont know what this is.

You need to use the Chrome browser and delete browsing data for all time before signing into TurboTax. It is pulling old browsing data and will until you clean it out.

It may be that there is a Form 8915 Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan hung in the return.

Here are the directions to delete the form from your return. This will delete both the form and the entries. If it rebuilds, sometimes there is another form recreating it and both have to be deleted to clear that information. In TurboTax Online:

To Delete a Form, go to the black menu bar on the left
Click on Tax Tools
Click on Tools
Under Other helpful links, click on Delete a Form
Scroll down and check for Form 8915 and if there is one, click on Delete
Click on the blue Delete Selected Form
At the bottom, Continue
At the bottom, Continue with my Return

If deleting the form does not clear the error, to clarify, we would like to take a deeper look at this. It would help to have a diagnostic file, which is a sanitized copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed but has all of the forms and numbers entered. You can send one to us by following the directions below and posting the token number here, so we can access the sanitized return.

TurboTax Online:

Sign in to your online account
Click on Tax Tools on the left toolbar
Select Tools
In the pop-up screen, click on "Share my file with agent"
Click OK on the message that a diagnostic file will be sanitized and transmitted to us
Please post the Token Number

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

Open your return
Click the Online tab in the top menu bar
Select "Send Tax File to Agent"
Click Send on the message, and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us
Please post the Token Number

I am having this same error. I followed the steps to delete the form but it is not showing as a form in the list under Tools. My Token number is 954589.

Same problem -- there's a file in the list of files to delete that says it isn't possible to delete it.

I hesitate posting a token here, that feels less secure?

I toggle off the box and it looks like it's not checked, but I keep getting told I need to review it. I don't want to have to deal with mailing this return, please! Thanks.

Thank you for sharing your token number. Just to reiterate, the files generated using a token number do not contain any personally identifiable information.

Please try the following steps if you are using TurboTax Online to see if the error message will clear:

Go to Federal on the left side of the screen
Go to Wages & Income at the top of the screen
Scroll to the bottom of the section without making any changes and click Wrap Up Income
Continue moving forward until you see a question about whether you took a disaster distribution in 2020 and select 'No'
Run the Federal Review again to see if the error has cleared

Please try the following steps if you are using a CD/downloaded version of TurboTax:

Go to Wages & Income at the top of the screen (or Personal > Personal Income)
Click I'll choose what I work on
Scroll to the bottom of the section without making any changes and click Done with Income
Continue moving forward until you see a question about whether you took a disaster distribution in 2020 and select 'No'
Run the Federal Review again to see if the error has cleared

Hi! Thanks for the help. The question to answer about the disaster $ was under the retirement section, not wages, but I did say "no" and then choose "wrap up income" and it's still giving me the error. But then...

I went back to be sure I followed your instructions correctly, and I went through all of the different sections, scrolling through the questions and answering them. Then I said wrap up income, then more questions, wrap up tax breaks, then I was then presented with *another* question asking about the disaster money (it looked different). I did the review and it's fixed!

please i need help. when the "specialist" calls my phone, nobody speaks. i did not get disaster distributions. i tried to delete the form. i cannot delete and redo the return because i paid the fee already. i just want to file my taxes. i feel like i am being held hostage.

I was able to load up the sanitized return and checked for Form 8915, for disaster distributions. It was not in the return for the token 964960, so there would be nothing to delete. The Federal Information Worksheet was showing an error that the Disaster question had not been answered.

I went to the area to check "no" and it did let me check it, then the error disappeared on the Federal Information Worksheet.

I suspect that something is hung in the cache for the browser that is causing it to not update. If you are using TurboTax Online, the most likely reason for buttons that don't work or not being able to enter information is that something in the web browser is not displaying the page properly. The easiest way around this is to simply use a different web browser. You can select from Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and more. If you need to install another browser, be sure to go to the trusted home site for the software for security reasons. Or you can clear the cache and cookies in your current browser.

If you are using the Turbo Mobile App, try opening Turbo Tax in the browser window on your phone. It will use the same login information but may display the page better.

If you are using a touch screen, please try a keyboard and see if that makes a difference.

This should allow you to check the "no" box and that will resolve the error message.
