the NJ state website says Temp disability benefits Federal taxes have to be paid. we applied, not our employer. so, they didn't get any NJ State w2 or 1099-G info to enter. we had Federal taxes removed with the benefits. where do we enter this in Turbo tax? i know NJ State doesn't need it but Fed's do

If your Temporary Disability benefits are not reported on your W-2 (often listed as "third party sick pay" or "other wages"), contact your employer directly to have it corrected.

The New Jersey Department of Labor does not issue W-2s to Temporary Disability Insurance recipients. If needed, let your employer know they can download their year-end tax statement here.

I received temp disability from state of NJ. State does not issue W2. My employer has not accounted for it in the W2. I am going in circles with my employer. They are saying they dont account for state payments in their W2, although state is saying employer should. Not sure what I can do in this situation.

New Jersey Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) benefits are federally taxable but not taxable in New Jersey. While the state does not issue a W-2, your employer is responsible for reporting these payments as third-party sick pay. If missing, request a corrected W-2 from your employer, as they can download the necessary data. Here's more info from the State of New Jersey, Division of Temporary Disability.

What You Should Do:

Verify Amount: Confirm the total amount of benefits you received from the NJ Division of Temporary Disability Insurance.

Contact Employer: Inform your employer they can download the "Temporary Disability Insurance Year-End Statement" to update their records and issue a corrected W-2.

Report Income: The benefits should appear as third-party sick pay, typically in Box 1 of the W-2 (and sometimes in Box 12 or 14, depending on the employer's setup).

If Employer Refuses: If the employer refuses to correct it, you may need to file IRS Form 4852 (Substitute for W-2) and contact the IRS at 800-829-1040.

However, if you use Form 4852, you won't be able to Efile and will need to print and mail your return. Another option is to request the corrected W-2 (document dates, times, person spoken to, etc.) and Efile with the W-2 you have. When you receive the corrected W-2 (the IRS will contact them, so they will issue it eventually), you can Amend your return.

@user17744743028
