Hi,

Filing Head of Household with parent included... My dad (unemployed in 2021 and living with me) became my dependent for 2021 and received an EIP in 2021 based on his 2020 married filing joint tax return with his spouse. They are filing separately for 2021. In the Federal Review section, it asks "Did you get a third stimulus payment?" I did not qualify/receive any of the stimulus payments. Should I answer "yes" and enter the amount on his Letter 6475 Notice?

Thanks

No. You don't include any payments he got. You can get it again for him.

If you are claiming them this year then you DO get it now. It is really based on 2021. And they don't have to pay theirs back. The IRS just used 2020 returns to send the checks out fast.

See Question 15 here

2021 Recovery Rebate Credit — Topic E: Calculating the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit | Internal Revenue Service
