Hi,

In summer 2021, I interned at a company based in California. However, all the works were done remotely at my state of residence, NYC. I never leave for California. I contacted my company and they said they blocked my CA tax. Is that possible? My W2 still show that the company's address is in California. With that in mind, do I have to file state tax for both New York City and California?

No, you don't need to file a tax return for California, just New York.
