topic TT 2021 Form 8962 - Error calculating income as percentage of FPL in Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I noticed that my projected refund was a lot larger than I expected, so I paid the TT fee so I could see the return and discovered this miscalculation on line 5 of form 8962.

$65,345/$17,240 = 379%, not 133%.

Can this be fixed ASAP? People are filing returns with this glitch.

And what should I do? Since I've paid the TT fee, I'm told I can't delete and restart my return. I did delete and re-enter my form 1095A but that made no difference.

(TT telephone support person couldn't help me either. He told me to just file the incorrect return and then call the IRS and tell them I think it I calculated it wrong. Ha!)

Did you indicate that either you or your spouse received or were approved to receive unemployment compensation in 2021?

That automatically makes Form 8962 line 5 a fixed value of 133%. It is not calculated from lines 3 and 4. The 133% cutoff is a provision of the American Rescue Plan Act. It applies to 2021 only.

Thank you, thank you, that must be the cause!

FYI though: when I went back and deleted and re-entered my 1095-A, I marked "No" when asked whether I received unemployment (just as a test, in case what I thought was a glitch was related to that).

Answering "No" did not change the result of line 5 on form 8962. TT must ignore that answer and actually look to see if unemployment benefits were included in the Income section.
