If you are filing jointly, you would not have a separate Turbo Tax account. Whatever account you used to prepare your return, is the only one with the information in it.

If you are wondering how to automatically upload your 1099-Div form and not his, and you both are using the same bank login, then you can just manually enter the information. The 1099 Div on TT replicates what you will see on your form, so you can simply copy it over.

Thank you for your response. I don’t think I phrased my question properly. The problem is that my wife and I have separate accounts with Merrill Lynch and I already uploaded her information using her Merrill login. Now I want to use my login to my own Merrill account to upload info from my 1099 forms. Turbo tax keeps logging onto her account and doesn’t allow me to override and use my own separate login. Entering this info manually will be extremely tedious since there are a lot of different mutual fund sales to log in from the tax form. How can I electronically upload my own Merrill info?

If you continue to have this experience You can call TurboTax at 800-446-8848 and schedule a callback from us if no one is available immediately. Also and possibly more conveniently you can use our online page by selecting the link below.

Contact Us

Occasionally two accounts from the same brokerage may not import. Here is a suggestion if you are unable to import the second account, by using summary totals.

The steps to enter a summary of your sales transactions is provided below. Separate long and short term transactions.

Long term: held more than one year (one year plus one day)

Short term: held one year or less

Open or continue your return (if it's not already open) and search (upper right) for the phrase stock sales > Press enter

Select the Jump to link in the search results.

Answer Yes to both Did you sell stocks, mutual funds, bonds, or other investments? and Did or will you receive a 1099-B form or brokerage statement for these sales?

If you land on Here are all your 1099-B sales, select Add sales from a different brokerage. Then answer Yes to Did or will you receive a 1099-B form or brokerage statement for these sales?

When asked how you want to enter your 1099-B, select I'll type it in myself.

Select or enter your brokerage on the next screen and continue.

On the following screen (Tell us about...), answer the questions until you reach the next screen. Select the second option, Let's enter a summary instead, and select Continue.

You'll now be able to enter the total proceeds (sales) and cost basis, along with the sales category (Long or Short term). Refer to your 1099-B for the amounts and category. When finished, select Continue.

When you are done, you'll eventually come to the Here's a summary of your broker sales screen where you can edit, delete, or enter more sales.

If you are e-filing your tax return, then mail your statements along with Form 8453 to:

If you have a single broker for multiple accounts, when selecting to add another account for the same broker: Clear cookies and then search for your broker via the search bar rather than clicking the broker icon. This should allow the screen to input account information and import the data.

See this post the user figured out how to import another account from Fidelity. Maybe it will help for other banks.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-credits-deductions/discussion/unable-to-import-second-instance-of-brokerage-completely-different-accounts-credentials-data/00/3191452

User said.......
After I had downloaded from one account and the second one would not work, I looked at the Fidelity website and noticed that I was already logged in to my account (the one I had downloaded from). Turns out that TurboTax had not dropped the connection from the first account. I logged out of that one and tried to download the second account and I was presented with the login screen and could then download from the second account.

This is the answer. TT is still linked to your account with the financial institution. Logout of your account with the financial institution and you should be able to walk through the steps in TT to

import your spouses info.
