the IRS is saying that "one or more individuals claimed as a qualified dependent exceeds the age limit" "the social number of one of more individuals claimed was missing or incomplete" "that last name of one or more individuals claimed as a dependent does not match our records" when all the names match, my son is 6 months old, and i triple checked his social to make sure it was right, and he is the only one i claimed as a dependent.

This could be a mismatch of his information with social security records. Double check his date of birth on your return in the personal info section. If that is correct, you can contact the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213 to verify all of his information is correct in their system.

If you have anyone else on your return that you are not claiming as a dependent and is not yourself or your spouse you can delete them off of your return by going back into the personal info section and clicking the trash can next to their names. You can also click Tools>>Tax Tools>> Delete a form and look for any other dependent worksheets and delete them.

@Vanessa A , would that still work since I already filed? Or would I need to wait until 3-26-22 for the window for the 1040-X form to open up? Or can I just call social security admin and they can change it in their system and send that info to the IRS?

The messages you received would normally indicate the return was not accepted as filed. If you believe your return has been accepted by the IRS and is being processed then, if necessary you can amend the return when the form becomes available.

If you contact the Social Security Administration (SSA), they will confirm the information for your child, or make a correction in their system. The IRS and SSA exchange information daily and then the information would be updated in the IRS system. If your return rejected, you will be able to wait a few days and resubmit the return. If necessary you should make any corrections before you resubmit the return.

Have you figured anything else out? I received my refund but it was reduced. It says my recovery rebate was reduced for the reasons you listed. I've tried calling everyday this week, but their phones are useless.

Hello, I had the exact same problem with my daughter who is 6 months old, I attempted over 10 times and gave the SSA a call. They confirmed that every thing is matching. My daughter has five names (Colombian and Black American) so I anticipated an error on their end but no, everything matched perfectly. Subsequently I tried my daughters First and Last name only (she has two words in her first name, one in the middle, two more in the last). I simply typed ******* Truitt and it actually went through and my taxes were accepted. Maybe you could try to simplify the name and just put your sons first and last name. Best of fortune to you.

Same here I have called 10,000 times called turbo tax no help. They removed my husbands son for which his mother claimed the past 2 years. It was our year to claim, she did not claim him and had to pay in. This is frustrating as i have called and called.

Turbotax has no way of knowing whether SSNs entered are correct and can not check their validity. The IRS gets SSNs from the Social Security Adm. so that's the place to start. Contact a local office because you will have to make an office appointment and bring the requested documentation. The SSA will not release this type of info over the phone
