Sorry for the confusing question. My real question is, that in years past I was able to print my Illinois tax return. This year all I get is the is the filing instructions for 2021 and 2020. All current updates have been applied.

Believe it or not, some forms are not available for print or mailing even if they are available for efiling.

The IRS started this tax season pretty far behind. That kind of delay flows down to the states. So the IRS finalizes their forms and then the states finalize their forms. And then the TurboTax programmers get the forms and have to integrate them into the TurboTax program. Then there is testing to make sure that the newly added forms work with the program properly. Then they are rolled out to the public. As inconvenient as the waiting is, it will still get your tax return processed faster than paper filing it.

I understand the last reply.

When I go to print the Illinois state tax returns all I receive is the File by Mail instructions for 2021 and 2020. Are the Illinois forms available for printing on TurboTax?

All forms that are supported in TurboTax for IL are available at this time.

Computers remember pieces of information that we want them to forget and sometimes this can cause nonsensical issues.

How to clear your cache

You can view your entire return or just your 1040 form before you e-file by using the steps below and we have a video at the link:

Open or continue your return.
Select Tax Tools in the left menu (if you don't see this, select the menu icon in the upper-left corner).
With the Tax Tools menu open, you can then:
- Preview your entire return: Select Print Center and then Print, Save, or Preview This Year's Return (you may be asked to register or pay first).
- View only your 1040 form: Select Tools. Next, select View Tax Summary in the pop-up, then Preview my 1040 in the left menu.

I tried all of the steps above and still get just the 'File by Mail Instructions' only for 2021 and for 2020.

Can you please provide more details on what you are attempting to do? have you successfully filed but are having difficulty printing the return? or have you not yet been able to file? Additionally, The IL forms availability list that was supplied above currently shows all forms available for mail but several that are unsupported for e-file. Some more details will help us to appropriately assist you @filsirwik.

I am using the CD version of TurboTax. I successfully e-filed my federal taxes and have already received the refund. I was able to print the federal forms successfully. I attempting to print the Illinois tax forms, so I can mailed them . When I go to print preview, all I get is 'File by Mail Instructions' for 2021 an 2020.
