      <description>&lt;P&gt;I did report it as income and will pay tax on the RMD.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I am retired and have no "earned" income.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I thought a "backdoor" roll over was possible.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;for a backdoor to work your starting IRA balance must be zero.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;That means your RMD had to draw down the entirety of all your IRAs to zero.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;BUT&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;with no earned income, an IRA contribution is not allowed.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
