I have asked those in the know. MANY users are asking the same question. So far, no further information is available. I know only that the issue is under investigation. My apologies.

Form 8582 is used to figure the amount of any passive activity loss.

If this is in your Maryland tax return, our team is working to resolve an error message in some Maryland state returns that give an error message about Form 8582 needing an update, even if there are no passive losses to report.

@bubsmoljo The Article published by TurboTax now contains the option to sign up for email notification of when this issue has been resolved.

Why is TurboTax generating Form 8582 when I have no passive activity loss in the state of Maryland? (intuit.com)
