State Tax Refunds Taxable or Not

My wife and filed separately for 2020. For 2021, we are filing a joint return. When entering information related to the state refunds to find if it is taxable, do I combine her 2020 return with mine to answer the questions? Example, the software asks for the adjusted gross income. Do I add her Line 11 income from the 1040 to my Line 11 income in my 1040?

Yes, you want to combine the information needed from previous years' returns when switching from filing separately to filing jointly.
