Go to InstallTurboTax.com.
Set up a TurboTax account
Enter your license code in the pop up window.
- It’s a 14-character combination of letters and numbers (XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX) that can be found on your CD box insert, envelope, or packing slip.
Select your operating system, and select Get Download.
Download your software and install.
- When you get to the Your product is installed, now let's activate it screen, enter your license code in the License code box, and select Continue to complete installation.

The License code is entered during the installation process.

@jdstrieyn Can you please provide more details about the issue you are encountering. Are you saying that there's no window popping up to enter your license code?

If so, try clearing out your browser's cache and delete the cookies stored on your computer. A full or corrupted cache can keep TurboTax from functioning properly.

TurboTax for tax year 2020 does not support Windows 7

If you purchased the 2020 software for Windows from TurboTax you should request a refund if you will not be upgrading to Windows 8 or higher.

If you can't install the Desktop program, you can use the Online version.

You can't apply the Desktop CD/Download purchase to Online. You have to pay for Online separately. You will have to get a refund for the Desktop program. Then you can use the Online web version. Or try to upgrade your computer or find another computer to install it on. The CD has both Windows and Mac programs on it.

Or Call in for a refund. When you fill out the from use the word BILLING ISSUES instead of the word “refund.” Contact Customer Service 5am-9pm Pacific time 7 days a week, https://support.turbotax.intuit.com/contact

They might give you a service code to use the online version.

If you used the Desktop program last year here’s How to transfer into the Online version, expand the blue link if you used the CD/download last year

If you used the Desktop program before you may notice several differences and not like the online version. It has less features and no Forms Mode. You can only do 1 return. Your return is only saved online so be sure to save both the .tax2020 data file and the pdf file to your computer when you are done. In case you need to amend in the future or if you need a copy to get a loan or something. You might not be able to access your online return when you need a copy.

Did she use the Online version? Log back in. Does it think she wants to mail it? You can try to switch to efile. Click on Add a State to let you back into your retun.

Get my money back from paying cash for the product. I bought it from Sams store. I did not enter it properly with the license number before doing my taxes. So I paid twice. Once at the store and once to do my taxes on the computer.

To submit a refund request online, simply fill out our TurboTax Refund Request Form. If you purchased a CD, make sure you send us all the packaging that came with your CD.

There is no such a 14 digit license code on the CD or package of my purchase from Costco!

I have installed and used TurboTax 2017-2019 with no problem.

The 2020 version seems ask for a unique username/password of 2020, but there is NO intuit reminder, nor friendly notes to avoid the problem. I used the 2019 username/password which destroyed my existing TurboTax 2019.

Did you buy the CD in the Costco store? I did. Inside the package I had to tear out the envelope and CD. One side says Installation is quick & easy! And 2 boxes to install from the CD or Download. Then below in a pink/peach colored bar is the 16 digit License Code.
