I need to file 2020 taxes. From what I've found, I cannot use online and have ordered and downloaded CD/software. I need to get the tax data file (.tax file) of my 2019 taxes and cannot find a way to download. I can only find the pdf but I want to transfer info to the software. I ordered the software directly from turbotax site. How can I get the .tax file for 2019?

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Download .tax file

It appears that since I had to switch to CD/Software in order to file taxes that the PDF is the only download it will let me do. I cannot download the .tax file.

Sign onto your online account with the same User ID you used for the 2019 online account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Start a 2021 online tax return by entering your personal information. Once the 2021 information is entered the prior year online tax returns will be available on the Tax Home webpage. You should be able to download the 2019 return tax data file
