      <description>&lt;P&gt;It depends.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Real Estate taxes are an &lt;B&gt;itemized deduction&lt;/B&gt; and if the total of all your itemized deductions is under the federal standard deduction amount, then the &lt;B&gt;standard deduction&lt;/B&gt; will be used on your return.&amp;nbsp; If the standard deduction amount is used, then you won't see any impact of the real estate deductions on your return.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If you are itemizing on your federal return, the tax reform changes for 2018 have &lt;B&gt;limited &lt;/B&gt;the amount of &lt;B&gt;state and local taxes&lt;/B&gt; (which includes real estate taxes) that can be included as itemized deductions to &lt;B&gt;$10,000&lt;/B&gt;.&amp;nbsp; Therefore, if you are itemizing on your return, you may not see the impact of your Hawaii real estate taxes if the total is being limited to $10,000.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
