Why am I completely unable to speak to any customer service agent without paying for it? I have one simple question about my e-file, I refuse to pay $30 just to speak to a human. How is this even legal?

TurboTax does not provide telephone support for Free Edition. There is no legal requirement for them to provide support. Why do you think you are entitled to get help from customer service when you are not a paying customer? You are using their product without paying for it.

You can try posting your question about your e-file here in the community. Someone might be able to help you. If you do that, be sure to state what year's tax return you are asking about, and when you e-filed it.

First and foremost, every single person, regardless of financial status and ability, should be able to receive free and comprehensive tax advice considering it is a legal requirement within this country to file one’s personal taxes.

Secondly, if my problem is a simple as the program not loading the next screen I should not have to pay *any* amount of money to get a tech assistant to fix that problem.

The next time you answer one of these questions, or any question on a public forum, try to answer with useful advice only and not condescension.

If you are unhappy with the free software available from TurboTax you are welcome to try any of the 8 other free software programs that will be available in mid-January through the IRS free file program.
