I mailed the fed filing but I forgot to attach a copy of the W2 form.

Just wait for the IRS to ask you for it. Mailed returns are taking a very very long time to process. So it might be 6 months or more. Did you get a tracking number from the post office when you mailed it? And mailed federal and state in separate envelopes? They go to different places.
