I downloaded a wrong state. How do I remove it to avoid the extra charge?

I tried to contact the center but was unable to talk to a real person. I bough the Home and Business edition, but the robot agent thought that I am using a free version, and asked me to pay to talk to a real person.

You need to pick the CD/Download program in the product drop down box. If you downloaded the wrong state you have to call in

Last year - 2019 taxes - We had reported income for both Illinois and California. But for 2020 no longer need the California STATE forms. They are still lurking around our 2020 install....

Is there any way to remove the California package ?

Exit the program. Where XX is the 2-letter state abbreviation, carefully remove the incorrect state folder and registry entry from:

C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\Deluxe 2020\Forms\XXi_20

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Intuit\TY20\PERSTATES\wXXiper

If you don't know how to do this or aren't comfortable, please do not attempt it and just ignore the incorrect state.

For now go ahead and download the state you need so you can file today and then get a refund for the unused state next week when the TT support phone lines are not as busy.
