It's not necessarily risky. Many people this year have seen a significant change on their Federal tax return because of all of the changes in the laws. Because of this, your Federal return may be different this year than in years past. We can't see your return here in this public forum, but if you have entered all of your information accurately, you can be confident in the result, even if you are not expecting to see the Federal return receiving less refund than California's return is providing.
