That rule was never put into effect. There is no place on Form 1040 or any other IRS tax form where you can identify yourself as a lawful permanent resident. You are not required to identify yourself as an LPR on your tax return.

New Rule

I’ve read on multiple lawyers websites that starting in 2020 the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services is implementing new policies and rules that will affect green card holders or lawful permanent residents (LPR).
One of the rules: "Failure to identify yourself a LPR on your taxes or accurately report your income may now lead to deportation."
I’m kind of confused, usually I use Turbo Tax app, and the application never asked for the legal status in the US.
In Form 1040 (2020) there is no field which can be used to denote tax filer's LPR status. Is there a separate IRS form or line where LPRs can denote their LPR status?
Could you please shed more light on this “new rule”?
