My husband died in November of 2020, I am filing a joint return as the surviving spouse. In the past, I always did the taxes, but my husband's driver's license was used as ID. Is there a problem if I use my driver's license instead of my dead husband's?

If you always listed your husband first, it could be an issue. Everything is matched to the first social security number.

I suggest you file the same way for 2020 as you have in the past and use your husband's number so that the IRS will recognize your return.

I did list my husband first.

Unlike the five previous years of using your program, I have had nothing but problems with Turbotax 2020.

Issues:

1. The program would not let me edit entries. No matter how many times I changed an incorrect entry, individually saving it as I went, the entry was unchanged when I went back to it later.

2. My filing would always be rejected, for the reason that the AGI was incorrect. The numbers were correct, but I had included a number and a decimal point in the entry, which your "experts" told me may have been the problem. Again, no matter how often I tried to correct the entry, I could not change the original.

So now I have the option of mailing the paper copy, or trying to start a new form and starting from scratch.
