My wife's father passed away several weeks ago. She would like to file his 2020 tax return using her Turbo Tax account. Can she do that without TT commingling her own tax information and her father's tax information?

Also, if there is a refund does that need to be deposited into an estate bank account?

Any guidance on this process would be super appreciated!

You have a couple of questions:

If she is using the online version of TurboTax I suggest she opens a new account for him. Be sure to record and save the ID and password.

If there is a refund it is often deposited into an estate account. Any exception would be based on conditions of a Will or established Trust.

File a separate return for your wife's father.....you can't use the same TT account. If you want a refund check made out to his estate or deposited in his estate bank account then no problem. If not, file a 1310 and the check will be made out to the personal rep.
