How do you download your state return?

TT Deluxe package. If I click on the "Upgrade TurboTax now" button on the footer bar, it shows a list of TT Packages and their features. On the Deluxe option, it states "1 State via download (Print free or e-file for an additional fee)" however on the STATE TAXES tab across the top, it states "For just $45, we can finish your state taxes in minutes."

It's confusing and misleading.

This is a fair question. The feature list of the TT Deluxe package clearly shows one state download.

Is there some reason my question was ignored?

There are hundreds and hundreds of posts each day on this user community forum during tax season. Sometimes well over a thousand posts a day. So unfortunately some posts can get overlooked and not answered. There are only a finite number of employees and volunteers answering the messages.

Did you purchase the Deluxe software from TurboTax or another retailer? If from TurboTax then there is one free state program download included in the purchase price. If from a retailer, the Deluxe edition can come with or without a state program included. Look at the box or the website where purchased. If it says Federal + State the state program is included. If it says just Federal then the state program is not included.

After entering some basic personal information on the 2020 tax return you can download the state program by clicking on Online at the top of the program screen and then on Download State.

If your purchase included one free state there should be no charge to download the state program. If you are being asked to pay for the state program ($45) even though it should be free, you will need to contact TurboTax support so they can push the state program to your download account at no charge.

my one state return is supposed to be free... why should I pay another 45$??
