Can I file 2021 Estimated Quarterly Tax Payments BEFORE filing my 2020 return?? Thanks

Estimated tax payments are due April 15th .....for 2021

But I won't have filed yes 2020 (probably in May sometime unless I do an extension)

Is this Ok? Or will it cause some issue?

The 2021 estimated tax payment will have no effect on you filing a 2020 tax return.

If I make an estimated 2021 1040-ES payment online and then send in the 2020 1040 a month later etc?

@davsea17 - just be sure to clearly identify which year you are paying for. The ledgers are kept separately as the IRS.

2020 tax deadline is now May 17, 2021

2021 1st quarter estimated tax deadline remains April 15, 2021
